In India, marriage is a great and sacred institution. Numerous interesting rituals are an important part of CKP marriages. Unique and predefined traditions lend a distinctive flavour to CKP marriages.
Exciting Post Wedding CKP Traditions
You will be surprised to know that one of the most amazing post wedding ritualsof this wedding includes the bride’s farewell. As soon as the reception ends, the young newlywed couples leave for the groom’s house for their next journey of life.
Easy Color Match
To make the perfect match with any color scheme, the white bouquet provides the ease of flexibility. The use of metallic color vase either golden or copper can be used to provide graceful aura.
The bride’s family assembles together and showers blessings for her happy and thriving married lifeahead. As I got the chance to attend CKP wedding, I was fascinated by another interesting tradition. Here the groom carries a shining silver goddess Parvati idol. This is taken as a symbol of respect for his newly wedded wife as he leaves the reception hall. However, the farewell is typical in the sense that the bride and the groom leave together in a decorated car with traditional sad songs being played in the background. The tear-laden eyes of the bride’s parents move the strongest heart.
Well, the famous Grihapravesh Aarti is not to be missed. This is an auspicious puja held as soon as the bride steps into the groom’s house. The mother warmly welcomes the couple and washes their feet with milk and water. This is considered to bring good luck and harmony in the house.
A decorated urn, which is full of rice, is also placed on the entrance of the home. The young bride is asked to kick the urn and the rice flows all over the entrance. This symbolises that prosperity and affluence will flow in the house as the bride is bringing good luck with her. Another unique and awesome tradition is that the groom gives a new name to his bride as he writes this name by parting the grains of the rice. This marks the bride’s new role in the family.
Soonmukh Baghane is another interesting ritual. A puja is done where the groom’s mother sits in between the newly- wed couple. She looks at the face of her new daughter-in-law in a mirror. After the hymns are chanted, the newlywed couple gives some sweets to the immediate family members.
Exchange of gifts in typical CKP Wedding
Manpan ceremony is also performed wherein gifts are exchanged between the two families.Another interesting ritual is Tond Dhune, where the bride’s mother gifts expensive jewellery or silver tea set to the groom’s mother. Then there is Vyahi Bhet where the bride’s father also presents silver ornaments or silver statue of god to the groom’s father. Halad Utaravarne is another ritual where the bride and the groom cannot leave the house or place of marriage.
Food Extravaganza of typical CKP Wedding
After the wedding, the close relatives of the bride and the groom and the newlywed couple enjoy a non-vegetarian feast. Well-prepared and delectable dishes such as rice and fish are served and enjoyed.
